Project idea

The "School of IT Design and 3D Modeling" project is an educational initiative aimed at training teenagers and young adults with disabilities between the ages of 14 and 18. The project is a continuation of the "School of Social Blogger" program successfully implemented in 2019–2020 by "I CAN!".

The main goal of the project is to create conditions for active socialization, creative and professional self-realization of teenagers with disabilities, as well as their preparation for subsequent employment. The project aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills that will enable them to utilize modern technology for professional activities and self-expression.

In order to achieve the set targets, the project includes the following key activities:

  1. Establishment of the "School of IT Design and 3D Modeling", an educational institution where IT design and 3D modeling courses will be held. Courses will cover the study of computer graphics using Adobe Photoshop and CorelDRAW programs, as well as 3D modeling using specially designed adapted programs. Specialists from the Department of Defectology Education of Cherepovets State University took part in the development of the training programs. Distance learning formats are available for participants with limited mobility.
  2. Professional training - the project involves training participants to use 3D printers to create three-dimensional images and laser machines to cut out molds from plywood or plastic.
  3. Acquisition of equipment and software.

It is planned to train at least 32 adolescents and young people with disabilities, who will be divided into 4 groups of 8 people during the project period.

Relevance

In 2019, more than 1,000 children in Cherepovets had an official disability status, and about 4,000 more faced health challenges. These figures underscore the importance of creating programs that help young people integrate into society.

Due to the lack of programs aimed at rehabilitation and habilitation, many of these children and their families live in isolation, which hinders their social adaptation and self-realization.

The project proposes a solution to this problem by using computer technology as a tool for development and communication. This is particularly important as many of these children and young people spend most of their time at home and have difficulty socializing and finding work.

Support of the "School of IT Design and 3D Modeling" project is important because it offers a unique opportunity for children and youth with disabilities to realize their creative abilities and professional ambitions in the field of IT and design. This gives them a chance for professional development and increased social contacts, which can significantly improve their quality of life. In addition, these courses have no equivalents in the Vologda Region, making this project a one-of-a-kind source of support and education for this vulnerable group.

Project Results

One of the key results of the project was an improvement in the quality of life of children with disabilities and their relatives.

The project played a crucial role in the socialization of its participants, fostering greater tolerance toward individuals with disabilities. Through the conditions created, adolescents and young people with special health needs gained opportunities for professional orientation and development. They successfully integrated into teams and society by participating in the IT Designers' Club, mastering fields relevant to their age group.

The project further promoted tolerance through the production and dissemination of informational materials, including blogs, videos, and social advertising. These materials highlighted the participants and their accomplishments, while media coverage about the project helped attract public attention.

A platform for creative and professional self-realization was created for the participants. Teens with developmental disabilities acquired new skills in computer design, learned to use graphic software tools, and applied these skills in practice. Many of them demonstrated creativity and the capability to produce high-quality graphic works. Some participants even became fully-fledged professionals.

The "School of IT-design and 3D-modeling" project showed that involving teenagers and young people with disabilities in creative and educational processes not only enriches their lives but also promotes societal integration and reduces social isolation.

Project progress after CSS funding

Following the completion of initial funding, the "School of IT-design and 3D-modeling" will continue to grow, supported by various funding sources, including grants for further development, donations, social services, and contributions from benefactors and sponsors.
