Project idea

The "Road to the Future" project is a social initiative aimed at supporting teenagers and young adults with a background of orphanhood in their social adaptation and preparation for independent living and employment. The main goal of the project is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for a successful transition into adult life and professional self-determination.

The project was created to address the problem of social isolation and insufficient preparation for independent living faced by young people who have graduated from children’s homes. It is aimed at developing personal qualities, professional competencies, and social skills that will help them become full-fledged and independent members of society.

To achieve these goals, the project provides a comprehensive approach, including the following activities and services:

  1. Individual Success Pathways: Development of personalized plans that take into account the unique needs and goals of each participant.
    2. Comprehensive Support: Includes legal assistance, psychological support, mentoring, and career guidance.
    3. Development of meta-competencies: Assistance in acquiring the skills necessary for adaptation in a rapidly changing world of employment.
    4. Social Interaction: Working with the participants' social environment to create a supportive atmosphere.
    5. Professional training: Providing opportunities for acquiring additional professional skills and knowledge.
    6. Corporate Mentoring: Collaboration with business representatives to prepare participants for a conscious career choice and subsequent employment.

In addition, events are planned for "key caregivers" to broaden their understanding of the modern labor market and help assess their level of satisfaction with their professional activities. This, in turn, will enable them to better support adolescents in their pursuit of independence and professional self-determination.

The "Road to the Future" project aims not only at the social adaptation of participants but also at their full inclusion in the economic life of the country, which will ultimately lead to an improvement in their quality of life and strengthen the social structure of society as a whole. With the help of this project, young people will be able to overcome the barriers hindering their personal and professional development and fully realize their potential.

Relevance

The project "Road to the Future" is aimed at helping adolescents and young adults with orphanhood experience adapt to independent living and employment. And this is why it matters.

 Numerical data:

There are over 15 million teenagers aged 11 to 18 in Russia. According to WorldSkills, 70% of them do not know which profession to choose. This is a vast army of future workforce members who need help determining their career path.

 Social necessity:

The Khabarovsk Territory, for example, has more than 6,000 orphans, 84% of whom are either living with guardians or residing in social institutions. Every year, hundreds of teenagers in this region reach adulthood and face the need to make decisions about their future. Without support, they risk being left without stable employment, which could lead to the inability to live independently.

 Economic perspective:

Statistics show that only 2% of graduates from orphan organizations enroll in universities, while the rest go to vocational schools, often without a clear understanding of their professional future. This leads to low professional motivation and risks of employment instability.

 Prevention of social problems:

The lack of stable employment and communication skills can lead to conflicts and displays of aggression among young people. Such difficulties may become a source of social problems in the future, including the possibility of secondary orphanhood.

 Solution:

The project offers comprehensive support, including individual guidance, career orientation, psychological assistance, and corporate mentoring. These measures will help teenagers make an informed choice of profession, acquire the necessary skills, and ultimately become socially and economically independent members of society.

Based on the above, it is clear that supporting this project is important for securing the future of young people, reducing social problems, and creating a stable labor market.

Social effect

Development of social skills in adolescents with orphanhood experience living in the Khabarovsk Territory, necessary for starting a successful independent life and professional self-determination.

Project Results

100% of regular participants underwent professional testing. 74% of the participants indicated the ability to identify their strengths by the end of the project, whereas at the beginning of the season, only 39% of adolescents reported having this ability. 87% of the participants by the end of the season shared their current understanding of their future profession and the presence of goals for the near future. 48% of the children noted having a professional plan for the future. All curators and individual mentors note that as a result of the teenagers having the opportunity to work under the internship program, they developed skills in self-organization and discipline, the teenagers "felt" the value of the money they earned, and tried managing their finances, thereby increasing their personal level of responsibility for their actions. 12% of the participants took part in internships at enterprises in our city and region and tried out various professions in practice twice during the summer period. 90% of the teenagers who participated in the project acquired one or more additional practical skills that will be useful for them in adult life.

Based on the work with the adolescents within the framework of this project, interviews were conducted, which revealed positive changes in their self-perception, their relationships with peers, various professional fields, as well as their interests and preferences. 82% of teenagers noted positive changes contributing to social and/or economic independence.

Project progress after CSS funding

The project "Road to the Future" will continue its development after the initial funding phase is completed. The foundation for further progress will be the verification and adaptation of existing approaches, as well as their integration into the Smartek ASI platform. This will allow the project's methods to be improved and made accessible to a wide range of specialists.

Expanding the competencies of specialists and disseminating successful practices across the Khabarovsk Territory, the Far Eastern Federal District, and other regions of Russia will strengthen the support and assistance network.

The financial sustainability of the project will be ensured through the diversification of income sources. Collaboration with the business sector and attracting private donations allow the organization to support and develop its initiatives. In addition, the organization provides social services and operates its own social business, including a charity shop, which contributes to its financial independence and ability to self-finance. Thus, the "Road to the Future" project has every chance for long-term and sustainable development, making a significant impact on the lives of young people and society as a whole.
