Recently Project Manager Nikiforos returned from Rostov-on-Don, where children showed their skills and abilities at the Sports Festival, dedicated to the International Volleyball Day. "Volleyball for All" is a project of our long-time partner, Growth Without Borders, which won the "Stronger with CSS. Sports for Development" Сompetition in 2022. The adaptive volleyball project involves 30 young athletes, their siblings and the whole family as well.
At the festival, Nikiforos talked to Gleb Tyurin, a professional volleyball coach, as well as Sasha Chizhik, a project participant. According to the coach, thanks to the training, children become more socialized, teamwork promotes communication skills. Trainings are held twice a week and during the training children greatly improved their technique of playing the ball, making throws and other game elements. Sasha Chizhik not only trains in this section, but also volunteers and gladly helps other children: he is like an older brother to the younger group of kids. All the children have already become real friends!
The adaptive volleyball section has already shown progress in the children's physical health, and the children have a lot of training as well as a trip to a summer camp in the future.
