Assisted living - a crucial element of a full life for people with disabilities

25/07/2023

We are keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding the issue of assisted living.

We believe that the ability of people with disabilities to integrate into society is the culmination of all the work that professionals do with children from vulnerable groups to prepare them for adulthood.

Moreover CSS activities began with supporting young adults with mentally disabilities on their way to independent, fulfilling lives.

In 2019, as part of the Zaluzhye project, the Foundation supported the construction of a house for former residents of the Bielsko-Ustyensky boarding school for intellectually impaired children.

In the village of Zaluzhye (Pskov region) there are now several comfortable houses where people with mental disabilities live permanently. Under the patronage of mentors they learn professions, find jobs, make friends, love, face and overcome difficulties and live full, interesting, and real lives.

After the Zaluzhye project, we met and supported a number of other great organizations where highly qualified specialists develop, share and apply technologies to support adults with disabilities and give them a chance for a prosperous life outside the walls of state institutions. Among the organizations: "Orange", "Volunteers to Help Orphans", "ROSTOK", Association of Parents of Disabled Children, "Worthy Special World".

So far, the issue of integration of people with mental and physical developmental disabilities into society seems to be one of the most important. As you know, in 2023 we announced a competition aimed exclusively at supporting such projects.

We hope that many years of work and developments of specialists will be used, adapted and remain available to those for whom they were developed.

We are worried.
