An assembly point and a place of power

An assembly point and a place of power, that is probably the best way to describe the project "Live in a different way".

The Maria's Children Foundation has opened the doors of two training apartments for nine orphanage graduates.

The Foundation's team holds training sessions there several times a month. During the reporting period (October '23 - March '24), meetings were held on communication, working with emotions, and personal boundaries.

Poetry evenings are held in the training apartments, which bring together project participants, Foundation staff, and mentors. This is also where new mentor-mentee couples meet, of course, in the presence of psychologists. During the reporting period, two pairs were formed, and now there are six mentor-mentee pairs in the project.

In cozy rooms, specialists of the Children of Mary Foundation prepare the graduates for the medical commission, which will confirm the right of young people to receive their own housing.

The apartments' living rooms become classrooms for children with intellectual disabilities. During the five months of the project, 50 hours of lessons were held.

And of course, former orphanage residents learn domestic skills, rational cooking, budgeting, and more every day on the apartment grounds.

A safe, friendly space where your difficulties and peculiarities are understood is a necessary condition for harmonious adulting. Children growing up in orphanages do not have such a space. Thanks to the "Live in a different way" project, nine former orphanage residents now have a space to integrate into society and succeed.
