The foundation began in 2020 thanks to Andrei and Irina Lokaychuk, who learned about starting non-profit organizations through the "A Home for Mom" project. That project was implemented by an expert in the prevention of child abandonment - the Foundation "No Strangers to Child Abandonment", as part of the competition Stronger with CSS.
Now "We are near" Foundation has existed for more than four years and supports about 50 families every year. Today, "We are near" helps moms with many needs. The foundation provides assistance from targeted to legal, and also provides women with children with the opportunity to live in a sheltered apartment. This approach works comprehensively and specifically on the prevention of orphanhood in the region and affects the well-being of children and families.
“The meeting was inspiring. Ira and Andrei were very positive and strong. They shared cases of women who came to them. There are many reasons why mothers give up their children. But they find a solution for every challenge. Unfortunately, not always the effect of support can be maintained. Sometimes the connection with mothers and their children is lost. But there are many more stories of families who got support and then became examples of how to get out of difficult situations," Olga believes.
Tomorrow Olga will meet with another foundation, that appeared thanks to the project "Home for Mom."
